GETTING READY TO TAKE OUR TRIP TO SICILY

Tuesday, September 21, 2010:  Today is Mom, Louise Buda's 90th birthday.

On Saturday, September 25, we [Joe, Mom [who is 90] Auntie [Aunt Antoinette, who is 80, and me] are traveling to Sicily on a Unitours tour of both coasts.  Four days on the west coast in Palermo, and four days on the east coast in Giardini Naxos.

So many things to do...packing, calling credit card companies, stopping the mail, buying snacks to take...checking the weather:  75-80 degree days and 60 degree nights...perfect.  Make a copy of your passport and scan it to the computer and then, email it to yourself, or to someone you can call to email it to you, in case of an emergency, then, make a copy and carry it in your carry on luggage and keep separate from your passport in your purse.

I am reading the National Geographic Traveler about Sicily.  My father, Frank Buda, was born in Passopisciaro, Sicily.  This town is about 15 kilometers from the city of Taormina, on the Ionian Sea.  Passopisciaro is in the foothills of Mt. Etna.  Between Passopisciaro and Taormina is Lungaglossa [shiny tongue].  Many Italians in Syracuse came from that area of Italy.  Dad died in 1990 but we have always wanted to go to see where he was born.  We traveled to the Amalfi coast last year.  This is where my Mom was born.
